Swartwout, a leader in the industrial airflow control industry for over 30 years, is the industrial product division of Ruskin Manufacturing, the leading manufacturer of dampers, louvers, and acoustical products (see Rink Sound Control). Both companies being owned by our parent company, Tomkins, PLC. Tomkins is fiscally strong and conservative with operations involving a wide range of products in numerous geographic locations throughout the world. Together with Ruskin, Swartwout provides customers with a resource for acquiring airflow control products for both commercial and industrial applications.

Swartwout manufactures dampers, louvers, and ventilators for a broad spectrum of industrial applications. Swartwout product applications may include: stainless steel or fiberglass control/isolation dampers for wastewater treatment facilities; galvanized steel or extruded aluminum airfoil dampers for tunnel ventilation & safety applications; high temperature/low leakage isolation dampers & poppet valves for the pollution control equipment industry (e.g., oxidizers); Safety-Qualified Equipment for the Nuclear industry; and steel or fiberglass backdraft dampers for redundant fan systems. Swartwout is also an industry leader in the manufacture of fiberglass ventilators. Swartwout’s product line is quite extensive with new product developments constantly under review.

Swartwout’s manufacturing facilities are strategically located in California, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Kansas, and Louisiana; utilizing over 400,000 square feet of floor space and employing over 400 hourly workers. These facilities are equipped with technologically advanced programmable machinery and state-of-the-art metal forming equipment. Together with our staff of design and manufacturing engineers, Swartwout can design and build customized products for the most demanding environments.

For testing newly developed or custom-built products, Swartwout utilizes an in-house R&D laboratory at the headquarters located in Kansas City, Missouri. This testing facility incorporates the use of three testing chambers for high, medium, and low pressure testing, a test oven, vibration testing equipment, and a wind-driven rain chamber for louver testing. This laboratory is considered the finest facility of its kind in the damper industry and is registered by AMCA, the Air Moving and Control Association.
